MARLBOROUGH residents are not aware of the dangers of climate change. That was the reason that Jo Ripley, 61, of Marlborough, put up a banner without permission on the town hall to draw attention to the issue.

"People won't act to stop climate change unless they are made aware," she said, "there are very few who dismiss climate change but the majority are not aware of the massive impact.

"For instance there has mass migration caused by climate change and recent report showed insects could become extinct."

Marlborough Town Council said no permission was requested for the banner to be put up and it was taken down shortly afterwards on the morning of Wednesday, February 13.

The town clerk Shelley Parker said banners can be put up on the town hall if they are for a community event and are usually linked to the hiring of the hall.
