COUNTY lines drug gangs have not penetrated Marlborough so far according to police.

The news was part of Sgt Pete Foster’s crime update for town councillors at their council meeting on Monday.

However, he said the last month had been a busy time for the force locally as there had been a spike in burglaries in homes in the area. This has appeared to end he said when a car with four people in it was pursued to Swindon. Two of the occupants got away but two were arrested.

There was one arrest for drugs in Marlborough, four drink drivers caught, and nine drug drivers stopped. The rise was due to a new drug wipe that officers can use which gives fast results for cannabis and cocaine.
