FIVE trolleys laden with groceries and toiletries were handed over to the Chippenham Salvation Army food bank by the local Morrison's superstore.

Morrison's Chippenham community champion Sarah Vardakis said head office gave their charity fund a £250 boost to spend on a local good cause, and they decided to support the food bank.

She filled the trolleys with suggested foods, such as tinned potatoes, pasta, rice, pasta sauces and tinned vegetables, as well as a pile of everyday toiletries and nappies.

"I think they were shocked to see how much it all came to," Sarah said.

"We have five trolleys full, and filled two cars up to the max."

The store on West Cepen Way keeps a box for customers to make donations for the food bank when they are shopping too.

The Chippenham Food Bank is based at the Salvation Army headquarters in Foghamshire and operates on a voucher system, providing groceries for people in need.
