YOUNGSTERS celebrated the magical world of JK Rowling's best selling novels on Harry Potter Book Night at Calne's Community Hub and Library on Thursday.
Members of staff dressed up as Hogwarts professors and around 14 young fans, aged between four and ten, dressed up as Hogwarts pupils for the sorting into houses, and then a series of lessons on topics such as Herbology, Divination, when they made paper fortune tellers, and Spellcraft, when children wrote and performed their own spells. They took a break and drank a beverage called Butterbeer, made and served by Terry Couchman of the Community Hub. It consisted of cream soda, topped with squirty cream (also known as unicorn fluff) and golden sprinkles - otherwise known as rainbow dust.
Senior library assistant Jackie Notman said the Butterbeer proved very popular.
"Everybody had a wonderful time, and we got some really nice feedback," she said. "That's what it's all about."
Another Harry Potter Book Night is on the cards for next year.
