THE friendly photographers of Burbage formed an informal club in the village in 2014.
Member Sonny Hamid, whose pictures are featured here, explained: “The new members at that time decided that it should be an informal gathering of enthusiasts discussing and exchanging views on their hobby. A formal set-up was not necessary.
“We continue to be an informal group and meet monthly in Burbage to engage in activities which members have requested during the previous month's session. Our members live in Burbage, Great Bedwyn and the Collingbournes.”
Last month the club held two events, with the first one featuring historic but often overlooked aspects of the village, taking pictures of lost World War II buildings to former police stations or churches with unusual spires.
The second session charted the way members had depicted the social life of the villages in the area, including Remembrance, events like local horse shows and off-roading.
Sonny, AGE, ADDRESS, JOB has travelled the globe in his former role as an engineer, having photographed elephants in Africa and the New York skyline. He’s also organised a festival in the village inviting members of Swindon’s Tamil community to visit and perform traditional dances, which created some wonderful photographic opportunities.
The group's next meeting is at 7.30pm on February 20, at the Burbage and Easton Royal British Legion Hall, ???? Burbage.
