RESIDENTS at Cepen Lodge care home in Chippenham enjoyed an afternoon of all things Scottish at their Burns Night celebration on January 25.
After the traditional reading of the famous Burns poem, Address to a Haggis, they tucked into haggis, neeps and tatties for Burns Supper and washed it down with a ‘wee dram’ of whiskey.
Resident Ken Clarke, a former dance teacher who has performed all over the country, led a Scottish-themed dance class. He performed a tap routine and gave everybody a ballroom lesson – while dressed in tartan.
Ali Dyer said: “I read the Robbie Burns poem to the Haggis after it was piped in and Ken tripped the light fantastic with his dance class.”
Resident Margaret Robertson, originally from Aberdeen, was eager to join the festivities, but sadly due to a chest infection couldn’t join the party. Keen to make sure she did not miss out, activities co-ordinator Ali Dyer took the celebrations to her room.
