Young riders from Sheldon School in Chippenham cantered to victory at the West Wilts Equestrian Centre and qualified for the National Schools Equestrian Association Eventers’ Challenge final, to be held at Hickstead in May.

The school fielded two teams of four at the event on Saturday last week (January 26). The year 10 team, made up of Tilly Hutchings, Annabel Candy, Natasha Candy and Honor Mayhew, won their class. The individual first prize went to Annabel, with Honor in second place.

Team coach Victoria Minors, said she was pleased with the overall performance of the girls.

She said: “They have trained so hard for this and deserve their success.

“I know they will continue to train with the focus on being even better for the May championships.”

The course was made up of show jumps and simulated cross country fences with an optimum time for completion. Sheldon has had a riding club since 2007, which has had many successes across disciplines.
