Cat had legs tied with plastic

In the first incident which shocked the town on January 11 a cat was kicked and thrown into the path of a car in London Road.

Now the hunt is on to find someone who took a cat from nearby Keepers Road and tied its back legs together with a plastic bag.

It was left bleeding and needed urgent treatment by a vet. A police spokesman said: "The cat was taken to the vet and is not in a very good condition."

The incident happened on the evening of January 23 less two weeks after a black and white cat called Timmy was rescued by a woman after two girls were seen throwing it at cars.

After this incident police said: "Shortly after 10pm on 12 January, we received a report that two girls had been seen to throw and kick a black and white cat in London Road.

“The girls were walking along London Road towards the petrol garage at the time and are both described as white - they had a young child with them. An officer attended but could not locate the girls. We’d appeal to anyone who saw anything that could help with identifying the girls.”

Last weekend people contacted police after a group of young people with a pram were seen walking towards Roundway Hill late at night.

They were concerned they might have been the same yobs involved in the cat attack.
