THE Chippenham Lions have received £1000 from Persimmon Homes Wessex to help deliver a charity auction for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The money was awarded through the housebuilder’s Community Champions initiative. Nationally, the scheme has donated more than £2million to good causes right across the UK.

Jeff Daws, from Chippenham Lions, said: “We are thrilled that Persimmon Homes has chosen to back our fundraising efforts, for what is a very worthy cause.

“The charity auction will be held at Chippenham Town Hall in March, with almost 100 lots of unique experiences, services, meals and collectibles to help raise our target of £4,000.

"Our major fundraising activities to date have included Christmas carol float around the streets of Chippenham and Corsham, as well as a cherished car show combined with a sports day for less able people.

“We’re aware of the phenomenal work of Wiltshire Air Ambulance and it is great to be able to help support them in any way we can.”

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “Chippenham Lions are an example of fantastic community spirit, which is what our Community Champions initiative is all about."
