Pewsham's very own Rapunzel, who has been growing her long hair since she was a baby, has decided to have her golden locks cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust.

Amber Kilmister, aged eight, a pupils at Ivy Lane School, has only ever had trims, but since hearing about the trust, which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair because of cancer, Amber has been thinking about making this special gift.

The hair cut is planned for February 16 at Salon Secrets in Chippenham - and Amber is also raising sponsorship money to donate to the trust so more wigs can be bought. Already £520 has been pledged and she hopes to reach £700.

"She says she wants other little girls and boys to have hair like hers," said mum Kerry. "I'm so proud of her, though I do love her hair!"

Brother and sister Ibby, 14 and Poppy, four, have used their pocket money to sponsor their sister.
