A WEEK-long National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with additional AED and Anaphylaxis modules is running at the recently re-developed sports complex at St Mary’s School, in Calne in the week beginning February 18.

This course enables candidates to become a fully qualified lifeguard, and students will learn CPR, rescue techniques, first aid including AED and anaphylaxis as well as lifeguarding health and safety.

The NPLQ is the most awarded qualification in the United Kingdom and is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs within the leisure industry.

The course is open to anyone aged 16 or over with an interest in lifeguarding and will run from February 18 to 23 2019, costing £230.

The sports centre at the school offers courses throughout the year during school holidays, with the next NPLQ and Rookie Lifeguard courses being held in the summer, as well as the upcoming Easter and summer children’s sports camps.

The courses and intensive lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, ranging from swimming to tennis, gymnastics and athletics. You can also join a running course.
