If you’ve missed out so far on seeing a pantomime this season then never fear.

In Bath at the Rondo Theatre the local drama group are staging a traditional production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

The rags to riches fairytale has all the ingredients of a panto with cross-dressing, plenty of jokes and good triumphing over evil.

The Bath Drama production runs from January 16-20 at the Larkhall venue with six performances, including two matinees at 2.30pm matinee at the weekend.

Written by James Barry the show marks the centenary of the amdram group that should appeal to all the family from four to 94.

The larger than life characters include the eponymous Jack Trott and an even larger beanstalk. There is his brother Silly Billy, the panto grand madam Dame Trott, the magical Fairy, and the fiery Princess Rose.

And we mustn’t forget Daisy the tap-dancing cow as they do battle against the evil Giant Blunderbore and his wife Mrs Plunder.

A live band leads the songs and dances, so expect a full blown show in one of the area’s neatest theatres.
