A 34-year-old pregnant woman from Warminster has died following a collision on the A36 yesterday afternoon.

The two-vehicle collision happened at 1.06pm on Tuesday (December 18) close to Black Dog Hill, near Warminster. It involved a black Porsche Cayenne and a grey Peugeot, which were both travelling in the direction of Bath.

The woman was driving a Peugeot and sustained significant injuries, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed that the woman was pregnant and tragically, her unborn baby also died as a result of the collision.

Police have said their thoughts are with her family and friends at this extremely difficult time. They are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.

The driver of the Porsche, a 62-year-old man from the Bath area, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries. He is said to be in a critical condition.

The road remained closed for 12 hours while collision investigators attended the scene.

Sgt Andy Moreton said: “This is an extremely upsetting incident and our thoughts are very much with the family of the woman involved at this time.

“As part of our investigation to determine exactly what caused this collision, we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle immediately before.

“As well as this, we’d like anyone with dash cam footage who was in the area of the A36 near Warminster at around 1pm on Tuesday, to please get in touch immediately. You may have footage which could significantly help with our enquiries.”
