Stagecoach West has given two of its double-decker buses a special sparkling silver makeover to celebrate 25 years of providing bus services throughout the region.

The buses, with their eye-catching livery in silver, blue and red livery will operate around the Swindon and Gloucester areas.

Its managing director Rupert Cox said: “It has been an exciting 25 years for our company and during that time we have seen Stagecoach West grow and the level of service we provide our customers continue to rise.

“We now operate buses that are much more environmentally friendly. We have invested heavily in our latest fleet of Stagecoach Gold buses which cost £250,000 each and have the latest engine technology which means a reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions and other particulates by 90 per cent compared to the buses they are replacing.

“We have introduced many other features on our buses for the comfort and convenience of our customers. These include low floor bus access for wheelchairs and buggies, smart card and contactless ticketing and real time bus information.”

Over the last quarter of a century, the bus company has grown to operate 300 buses throughout Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Herefordshire, South Gloucestershire and North Bristol.

Mr Cox added: “We have added Wi-Fi and USB charging points to many of our buses because we recognise how important it is for our customers to keep in touch whilst they are on the go.

“Our staff are at the heart of everything we do. That is why we provide them with greater levels of training so we can give our customers the standard of service they have a right to expect. Our company has been on an incredible journey over the last 25 years but we eagerly look forward to the future.”
