DEVIZES poet Gail Foster has just published a book of her work that is aimed at making people both laugh and cry.

Ms Foster, who is a photographer as well as a writer, is selling the book Mischievous Spring at Devizes Books for £10.50 and through Amazon. She hopes it will make a last minute Christmas present for those who enjoy her style.

She said: "It's a big book, and there will be a lot in here that you haven't read. It's a book of serious sonnets and satirical sweary things. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will make you spit your tea out.

"It's dedicated to my friends, my family, my muse, and the people who get me."

One of the poems in the book called Years Of Hurt, which highlights domestic abuse through the eyes of a woman waiting for her partner to come home after a football match, was read by Ms Gail at a service at Salisbury Cathedral.

Reviews posted on Amazon give the book five stars. One said: "An excellent collection of poems. Gail Foster has a skill with words. Her poems made me laugh, feel sad, feel alive."

Another said: "It's impossible to say how good this book is." Ms Foster, who gave up full time work three years ago to concentrate on her poetry and photography, took an artistic picture of blossom for the cover of her book.
