LONG distance walkers have dedicated a new kissing gate in the memory of one of their members.
Dr Mark Rendall was chairman of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA), Wiltshire, died last December aged 75.
LDWA's Graham Instrell said: "Mark was a very popular and respected GP in the Melksham area, who retired in 2003, best known in Steeple Ashton, where he lived, and Seend. He was an advocate of walking for good health.
"Mark’s widow, Dorothy, and their family joined 20 of us to unveil a plaque and be the first through it. The gate at Giant’s Grave, near Pewsey was funded by the LDWA."
Dorothy said that the group meant a lot to Mark and he always returned from the walks a tired and happy man. The gate is near Oare, just north of Pewsey on both the Mid-Wilts Way and White Horse Trail . In April 2019, the group hold a walk to encourage new members.
