MANY aspiring movie stars wait years for their big break - but two Chippenham canines won starring roles in a blockbuster movie just a month after signing up with an agency.

Louie, aged two, and Ruby, aged four, are two Dobermanns and belong to Graham Jones and his partner Elaine Barker.

Graham, from Pewsham, who works in IT, signed up the dogs in April and and a few weeks later he got a call asking for the dogs for a new film called Surviving Christmas with the Relatives, directed by James Dearden and recently premiered in Premier in London's Leicester Square. It goes on general release on Friday November 30.

The stellar cast includes Patricia Hodge, James Fox, Joely Richardson, Ronni Ancona, Sally Phillips, Gemma Whelan and Julian Ovenden. Louie and Ruby joined the filming in Hertfordshire for two days - and their role involved chasing another dog.

"The dogs did exactly as they were asked to do," Graham said. "They behaved themselves brilliantly on set."

He said another role might follow in the future, but the details are under wraps.
