PUBLICANS Danny and Tara Adams, who were not satisfied with running just one Wadworth pub but now are in charge of two, received the top prize at an awards evening held on Monday at The Bear Hotel, Devizes.

The couple who are tenants of both the Greyhound in Bromham and the George Inn at Sandy Lane took the title for the Tenanted Trade Best Business Partner at the event organised by Wadworth.

They also received the award for Best Retail and Digital Marketing Pub of the Year.

The best customer service award went to Richard Baulu and Virginia Long from the Kings Arms in All Cannings and best newcomer was handed to Sylvi Giuliani from the Borough Arms in Hungerford.

Recognising the standard of beer being served, two Wiltshire pubs were recognised in the category. The tenanted trade best beer and cellar quality was awarded to Jacky Crowley of the Cock Inn, Warminster and after only taking over the Kings Arms in Melksham a year ago, Hannah and Ryan Coates won the same award for the managed houses.

Other Wiltshire pubs who won awards were Nicola Giddings from the George Inn in Lacock who was awarded managed house best team member; Michael and Joanne Hehir of the Blue Boar in Aldbourne near Marlborough who received the elite prize for best pubs in bloom and Kaileigh and Guy Tasker of the Langley Tap in Chippenham who won the prize for the tenanted trade best food pub, new entrant.

Wadworth CEO Chris Welham said: “The Best of the Best Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the success of our dedicated tenanted and managed house pub teams and recognise the great pubs and customer service they deliver.

"It’s a tough competition as we have so many wonderful pubs so I’d like to thank everyone at Wadworth for their continued hard work and dedication in making the customer count every day. We have many pubs in the west country to be proud of."

Other Wiltshire winners who received silver awards on the night included Adrian and Jacqui Bartels of the Bear Hotel in Devizes for managed house best newcomers, Richard Jennings of the Pheasant in Chippenham for managed house best food pub and Matt Humphries of the Three Crowns in Devizes for managed house best manager.
