More than 300 performers had to be on their toes when they competed in the Devizes Eisteddfod's third dance festival held at Lavington School on Saturday and Sunday.

Around 50 classes were held, ranging from ballet to tap, character to modern for solos, duets, trios, quartets and groups.

Eisteddfod director Michael Johnson said: "Lavington School has made us feel very welcome and I have had many expressions of gratitude from teachers, parents and competitors.

"This has been our biggest entry so far and it has been pleasing that the standard of presentation continues to rise."

Adjudicator Tanya Allen, one of the country’s leading dance judges and a member of the British and International Federation of Festivals said: "I was not only impressed by the standard of dancing but also the friendliness of the parents and organisers."

After five days of competition the 2018 Devizes Eisteddfod reaches its climax with the Gala Festival Concert in the Devizes Town Hall Assembly on Saturday at 7pm, when selected outstanding items from this year’s event will be performed again.

The concert will include the 3rd Wiltshire Young Musician Competition in which six of the county’s most promising young performers will compete for the WYM Trophy, donated by Devizes Rotary, and £550 of tuition bursaries supported by Wansbroughs solicitors.

Admission to this spectacular concert is free with a retiring collection.
