POLICE have appealed for witnesses following a break-in at a store in Marlborough at the weekend.

A large amount or high-value clothing was stolen from a shop in Hillier's Yard at around 2.40am on Sunday, November 25.

Police said in a statement: "We are appealing for information after a large number of coats and jackets, worth several thousands of pounds, were stolen from a shop in Marlborough.

The offenders smashed a pane of glass in the main door, gaining entry and removing a large quantity of items from throughout the shop. In total they stole 19 coats or jackets, each valued between £100 and £280."

PC Jonathan Brunt, from Wiltshire East Community Policing Team, said: “Due to the number of items stolen, we are assuming the suspects had access to some kind of car or van.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the break-in and saw any suspicious people or vehicles.

“Also, anyone who was driving through the area and has dash cam footage, or who has private CCTV footage, and anyone who has seen high-value coats or jackets for sale, perhaps via social media.”

Anyone who can help should call PC Brunt on 101, quoting crime reference 54180111729. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
