MEMBER of Parliament Claire Perry, who represents Devizes and became minister for energy in June last year, has declined to make any comment about recent allegations she has sworn and screamed at civil servants.

It was reported in the national press this week that representatives of three unions representing Whitehall officials wrote a joint letter to Alex Chisholm, permanent secretary at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) with concerns about the behaviour of its ministers.

The letter said the claims had been raised by BEIS staff, but that the unions could not detail specific instances owing to concerns that individuals involved could be identified.

They singled out the alleged behaviour of Mrs Perry, who has represented the Devizes constituency since 2010, claiming there had been a series of reports about her alleged behaviour towards her civil servants, including claims Perry screamed, shouted and sent an abusive text.

Her Westminster office refused to make any comment to the Gazette and Herald about the allegations.
