VILLAGERS are celebrating the inauguration of a brand new kitchen at Langley Burrell village hall, thanks to a £12,000 funding boost from the Hills Group.

The money was made available through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF), which is administered for Hills by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire.

In addition to the LCF award, the village was delighted to receive support from Wiltshire Council, Langley Burrell Parish Council, Co-op Community Fund and Tesco Bags of Help. The balance was raised by residents of the village through community events such as the annual fete.

Wiltshire councillor Howard Greenman opened the new kitchen on Monday evening. The village hall is very well used not only for parish meetings and events but also for groups as diverse as dog training, chess, table tennis and pilates.

"The new kitchen is a major enhancement to the facilities of our village hall and we were delighted that Coun Howard Greenman and Peter Andrew, group director of Hills Group were able to attend," said Julia Mannering, secretary of Langley Burrell village hall trustees.
