SWINDON’S own X-Factor star Jahmene has kicked off the town centre Christmas light’s switch-on.
Singing to a packed Wharf Green crowd, the 27-year-old said it was good to be back in his hometown.
Stood at the front of the crowd, Queen’s Drive mum Sharon Drewett, 49, said: “I’m glad to see Jahmene back here, where he belongs.”

Harvey Sainsbury, seven, said: “I love seeing the fireworks. They’re just satisfying. When you’re in a bad mood it’s satisfying to see them.”

Maria Blake, 46, from Parks, was with daughter Nikita, 11: “We come every year. She used to sit on my shoulders, but she’s a bit big for that now.”
Tonight’s Christmas lights spectacular features rapper Tinchy Stryder and Swindon’s own Voice Kids stars Phoebe Maddison and Lilia Slattery.
