A LOCAL artist has launched an exhibition of her work which will remain open throughout November.

Hilary Stock from Marlborough has opened her From Wiltshire Woods to the Cornish Coast fine art exhibition in the White Horse Gallery which includes a range of new work that celebrates the Savernake Forest and Westwoods, as well showcasing Mrs Stock's Cornish pictures.

She said: "I was pleased with the turn out of people who came along to the opening of the exhibition.

"I have created tis work as I think there is something mesmerising about the stillness of the Savernake forrest.

"It feels like a privilege to wander amongst the trees, as if I’m glimpsing a world unknown.

"I want people to feel that experience of going into the woods.

“I think there are many surprisingly strong connections between the two counties.

"It was great to see the main two strands of my work in one place, and a little scary."

A number of Mrs Stock's Savernake Forrest photos have a three dimensional quality to them.

She has also spent many years photographing the Cornish coast.

Last summer, she had a number of pop-up exhibitions in Cornwall, where there was considerable interest in her Wiltshire work as well as her Cornish pictures.

Mrs Stock has recently taught photography to a group of teenagers and taken them to The Gambia with a new local charity, Thriving Through Venture. An exhibition of the teenagers’ pictures will run at the White Horse Gallery in December.

From Wiltshire Woods to the Cornish Coast runs throughout the month.

On November 26, one of Cornwall’s leading luxury hotels, The Nare, will be hosting a drinks party at the White Horse Gallery to celebrate Hilary’s pictures.
