A cyclist was injured in an accident with a car on the roundabout at the junction of Wick Lane and Pans Lane yesterday evening.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene just after 6.30pm and Wick Lane was closed at its junction with Potterne Road.

A number of people living nearby came out of their homes to offer support to the injured man before emergency services arrived.

A police spokesman said: "We were called just before 6.30pm by the ambulance service to a report of a collision involving a Mini Cooper and a cyclist.

"The cyclist, who was travelling from Green Lane direction towards the A360, when he collided with a vehicle travelling from the hospital site towards Pans Lane.

"The cyclist, a man in his 40s, suffered an arm injury and went to the Great Western Hospital.
