MEMBERS of staff from a Devizes opticians got into the Halloween spirit with its annual staff pumpkin carving competition.

For the fifth year running, the team from Specsavers in The Brittox had all sorts of fun throughout the day, decorating the store, carving the pumpkins and presenting them for judging.

Pumpkin designs this year included lots of spooky faces and one reading Trick or Treat. The winner was lab technician, Ashley Kostyszyn with a Scooby-Doo design that showed his artistic flair while fitting in with the spooky yet light-hearted theme.

"We love Halloween in store and we think it’s a great time of year for some fun," says Devizes Specsavers store director, Karen Carvallo. "We’ve hosted the pumpkin carving competition for the past few years, so it’s great to see the designs getting more advanced and creative each year.

"We’re always keen to do something special in store when occasions arise. Not only does it make each day different at Specsavers in Devizes, but it brings members of the team closer together, while bringing out their competitive side. There’s nothing quite like some healthy competition to encourage the best pumpkin designs."
