Dorothy House chief executive John Davies and his springer spaniel Myrtle came face to face with the Wadworth brewery's shire horses in Devizes while on his 180-mile One Man & His Dog walking tour.

They are visiting all 28 Dorothy House shops in 20 towns across the hospice’s 700 square mile region. It.aims to raise funds and awareness of local hospice, Dorothy House and their future plans for meeting rising end of life care needs.

Mr Davies and Myrtle took the chance to rest their weary legs while being transported around the town by the brewery’s dray and shire horses, Max and Archie who weigh one tonne each.

The Dorothy House team met Wadworth staff as they supported the awareness and fundraising event.

John Davies, Chief Executive at Dorothy House said: “Our thanks to Wadworth for an extraordinary morning at the brewery meeting their stunning shires. Please join our One Man and His Dog tour as we seek to inspire the community to support this much-treasured hospice and work alongside us to ensure that outstanding end of life care becomes part of the everyday and accessible to everyone.

"I look forward to meeting and walking with the public, local businesses, charities and community groups on my travels to share our vision for the future.”

Chris Welham CEO for Wadworth said: “This is a great initiative by Dorothy House and we are delighted to welcome John and Myrtle during part of the 180-mile walk.”
