THE parks team in Devizes was kept busy this week as they helped youngsters prepare for Halloween fun.

On Monday children were shown how to carve pumpkins to decorate their doorsteps ready for Wednesday night's spooky goings on.

Open spaces supervisor Mike Aiston said: "All the children seemed to really enjoy themselves. We had three sessions and there were ten children at each one.

"Parents were in attendance. Some of them got involved but others were happy to let their children take control."

The carvers took over the cafe in Hillworth Park and were provided with everything they needed to make a scary face on their chosen pumpkin.

Mr Aiston said: "We bought the pumpkins from Bromham and had all the kit for them to be able to make their carvings. They then took them home ready to put on their doorsteps."

He was joined by other park staff who helped supervise the children. The whole team has been in Halloween mood this week as they prepared Hillworth Park for one of its most popular nights of the year.

Between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday there will be a free family spook night complete with the tunnel of doom, witches, ghosts and many other ghoulish goings on was due to take place.
