SUPPORTERS of the family of Karly Heweson who died in an accident at Prison Bridge in Devizes were out packing bags at the weekend to raise money set up to help her young son JJ.

Miss Heweson, 21, died on August 27 and since then her home town of Devizes has rallied to support her much loved son who was two in September.

A justgiving page was set up by Jemma Brown and quickly raised thousands of pounds. The total now stands at £8,910 and this will be swelled by the £365 raised at the weekend with bag packing at Morrisons in Devizes.

Mrs Brown said: "The bag packing raised £365 which is fantastic. That’s going straight into the fund being set up for Joshua. This money along with the money from Just Giving will grow into a good nest egg for him when he’s 18. It’s a small thing, but great."

Hundreds of people turned out for the funeral of Miss Heweson where people wore yellow in tribute to the young woman who loved sunflowers. Mrs Brown sang Fields Of Gold by Sting.

Her family remembered the children's nursery worker as beautiful, kind and loving. They said: "She was a free spirit and wonderful young lady with so much to live for.

"Just under two years ago she became a mother to beautiful Joshua giving us the most precious grandson. Karly was a fantastic mum and we were looking forward to making lots more happy memories with her and Joshua."

When she set up the fund Mrs Brown said: "It won’t heal the pain, but it’s something we can all do together." To donate to the fund go to www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/karly?utm_id=126
