DEVIZES Mayor Andy Geddes prepared for the weather when he launched a sponsored walk organised annually by the town's Lions club.

Mr Geddes made sure he stayed dry under an umbrella as he chatted to the walkers at The Wharf at 9.15am on October 13.

The hikers braved the rain to walk the route that took them up Roundway Hill and lasted for about two hours.

Walk organiser Lion Chris Gillings said: "The rain was relentless throughout but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the 75 participants who between them raised about £2000 for their chosen charities."

Among those taking part was scout leader Scott Coleman, 28, who was there with cubs Theo Sharpe and Isabella Hughes. He first took part in this walk some 20 years ago when he also was a Cub.

Chirton Pips manager Sarah Jones was also there enjoying the challenge with her team including Helen Edwards, Penny Dakin and Lisa Bridewell along with Claire, Kevin, and Amelia.
