THERE were more than just a few apples for the teachers when children at two Calne schools took part in a day to celebrate the fruit.

Children at St Margaret’s Preparatory School and its sister school, St Mary’s, enjoyed Apple Day, when an expert was on hand to press apples brought in by pupils and those from the school orchard. Parents were also able to join in the fun and brought in their own crops of apples from home to see them turned into juice.

Representatives from MyAppleJuice based in Hungerford took the juice away, pasteurised and bottled it, and even created personalised labels.

Kim Callaway, Outdoor Learning Co-ordinator said: “It was lovely for our children to be able to see how the apples were turned into juice, hear about the whole process and enjoy some of the drink; there were also stalls selling other apple products.”
