WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after lead was stolen from a Pewsey church roof.
The incident happened between 6pm on Tuesday, October 9 and 8am on Friday, October 12 at St John's Church in Church Street.
As a result of the theft, damage was caused to the roof causing rain to leak into the building overnight, causing further damage to the inside of the church.
Detective Constable Cerys Powell said: "The church is a Grade 1 listed building.
"Where the lead flashing and guttering has been taken off, a lot of damage has been caused.
"The church is located on a main road, so it is possible that there may be witnesses to the incident, including anyone who was driving in the area overnight."
