PUPILS at Devizes School had a visitor on National Poetry Day on Thursday, when Toby Thompson took a break from performing at the Bath Children's Literature Festival to drop in.
Toby, who began writing poems when he was just 14, the same age as some of the Year 9 youngsters he met, took an assembly with Year 9 and did a workshop afterwards.
The writer and performer who has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury and the Camden Roundhouse spoke to students about how he began writing and gave them some tips on hoe to perform poetry as well.
A spokesman for the school said: "Toby has been receiving rave reviews on his tour, we were so lucky to have him visit as he is a very busy man."
