SHOPPERS hoping to visit their favourite market stalls today (Friday) were disappointed after Wiltshire Council took the decision to cancel all outdoor markets due to be held due to forecast high winds arriving with storm Callum.
The markets affected were due to be held in Chippenham, Calne and Warminster, but The Shambles indoor market in Devizes has remained open.
All traders were notified on Thursday afternoon. A statement from the authority said: "The council believes there is a risk to trader and public safety if the markets went ahead and has taken an early decision to cancel."
