SIX members of the Malmesbury Beavers were presented with the highest award possible for Beaver Scouts.

Henry de Lange, Harry Johns, Felix Bristow, Monty Cole, Fabian Olejnik, Sam Woodman and Charlie Howard achieved their Chief Scout Bronze Award by completing six challenge badges over their time at Beavers.

They completed the badge criteria by attending sessions which included them cooking over a camp fire, learning knots for pioneering challenges and problem solving as a team through to whittling sticks, archery target practice and tent erection.

Gynnette Ranger-Walsh, leader of Malmesbury Beavers, said: “Many of the activities we do at Beavers focus on the outdoors and ‘screen-free’ time.

“The Scouting Movement is about having opportunities and trying out things which these young children may not normally do as part of their families’ leisure pursuits.

“These Beavers ensured they attended a variety of sessions to ensure they achieved the Bronze Award.

“This is such a great achievement.”

The awards were presented in the Crow’s Nest at Westonbirt Arboretum, and all of the children are going on to Cubs for their next adventures and set of challenges.
