CINEMA fans are one step closer to having their own big screen in Marlborough after planning permission was granted and building work is due to commence in The Parade.

The former United Reformed Chapel will be sound proofed and kitted out with the latest technology to become a 108 seat, two tiered cinema.

Orlando Harris, one of the men behind the vision said: "We have completed our first round of funding and will soon start to tidy up the outside garden area, before work commences in January.

"Builders will work on the listed building to fit the new cinema and bar area.

"We know that people are keen to be kept in contact with how the project is going and we are now working on the second phase of fund raising."

Opening night is expected to take place in June 2019, where a range of films will be shown.
