Colin Robert Hopgood
FORMER Devizes Mayor and long serving milkman Colin Hopgood has died aged 78
Mr Hopgood was a loving husband to his childhood sweetheart Wendy. They married in 1960 and went on to have five children Nigel, Amanda, Peter, Nicola and Marcus. They also had 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
The couple were also foster parents to more than 70 children.
Mr Hopgood grew up in Bishops Cannings and joined the army after leaving school. The rest of his working life he was a milkman.
His children said that he was always very proud of his family. His other achievements in life was being town councillor and Mayor of Devizes from 1996-1997. He was very proud of Devizes. Dedicating his retirement to canal side allotment to give pleasure to local people and tourists.
He will always be known as a loving man and always there to lend a hand or ear to whoever needed him. He will be missed by so many.
The funeral service will be at Semington Cremation on Monday at 9am.
It will be followed by tea and cakes at Bishops Cannings Village hall.
The family request people to wear something red.
