ST JOHN’S Academy, Marlborough welcomed 22 students and three teachers from the Jiatong High School in Beijing. The Students will stay with their Exchange Family for two weeks, and they have the opportunity to visit Bath, Oxford and London during this time. The students will also spend time in lessons with their exchange partner in order to gain an understanding of life in the UK.

International co-ordinators Claudia Caswell and Jaclyn Jimenez have spent many months ensuring that St Johns would be able to enter into a partnership with a Chinese school in order to give British students the opportunity to take part in such an exciting exchange.

A school spokesman said: "The students have begun to learn Mandarin, and they will be able to test this out when they visit Beijing in October when they will be staying with their Chinese partner." The Great Wall of China will be among the sites they see when pupils take the trip to China.
