999 CREWS are trying to free a trapped motorist after a white van went off Highworth Road around midday today.

Fire, police, and ambulance staff are at the scene of the incident, near Highworth Golf Club, and the B4000 road was closed for three hours.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to a serious road traffic collision between Highworth and Shrivenham at 12.03pm.

"A person is trapped and, though no serious injuries have been reported at the moment, the condition of the man is not clear.

"More units are en route to deal with traffic management."

The road reopened around 3pm.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at around 12pm to attend a single vehicle road traffic collision on Shrivenham Road, Swindon.

"We sent an ambulance to attend which remains at the scene.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One crew from Stratton is in attendance along with one from Faringdon.

"We were called at 12.42pm and are still on scene."
