A BELLWAY Homes sales advisor in Corsham is hoping to cycle 300 miles this month to raise more than £500 for Cancer Research UK.

Jaine Whitfield, 51, works at Bellway’s Pickwick Court development in Corsham and cycles to work most mornings whenever she can.

She said: “As I am local, I tend to cycle to work when I can and so have signed up to challenge myself even more by aiming to do 300 miles in September in aid of Cancer Research UK.

“I am also planning a coffee/cake event on Thursday, September 20 from 4pm to 7pm, which Bellway have kindly allowed me to do at the sales office.”

She has also received £100 in sponsorship from Jacob Heatley-Adams, of Hunter French estate agents in Corsham, the designated estate agent for Bellway Homes’ developments in the area.

He said: “We always sponsor lots of things locally because it’s important to give our support to the area in which we work.”

Jaine, who lives in Top Lane, Whitley, has already cycled more than 150 miles so far this month to and from work. Her journey involves a 10-mile round trip.

She tops it up at weekends by making other trips on her bike.

“You kind of forget how hilly it is around here but so far the weather has been quite kind, so that’s good. It’s just about making sure I get out and about on my days off.”

So far, she’s raised around £400 and Bellway Homes has pledged to match anything that she raises to donate to the charity.

Bellway is building 96 new homes at Pickwick Court. The development contains a mix of two, three, four and bedroom properties, of which around 60 have been sold. The company is also building 88 new homes at Dickens Gate in Rudloe.

New residents on the Pickwick Court development will be invited to the coffee morning, along with visitors who would like to pop in.
