THE landlord of a pub in Semington says he is a bit apprehensive about seeing his face on national TV on Monday, when he features in an episode of Four in a Bed.

John Adams, of the Somerset Arms, High Street, will appear on the Channel 4 show, which involves four bed and breakfast owners taking turns to stay with one another - and pay for what they consider fair for their stay. The winner is the establishment named best value for money.

Mr Adams, who is joined by good friend Dennis Gowie for the show, went to B&Bs in Doncaster, Cambridgeshire and one near Snowdonia over a two-week filming period.

Although the 48-year-old, who has run the pub for just over a year, said that he could not say too much about how things went, he did say the whole experience was a very memorable one.

“Hopefully we have made some entertaining TV but to be honest I am a bit apprehensive about it,” he said.

“My partner did not want to be on national TV so my good friend Dennis stepped in, he is a good laugh. Channel 4 got in touch, we had a phone call and then they came out for a video shoot with us.

“I was surprised that we made it through because only 60 out of 300 make it. They called us saying they would love us to take part, so we went for it. We went to each place, stayed over and went to other places too.

“It was actually quite a competitive environment but we had a great time meeting up, seeing how different places work - so it was a very good experience.”

Mr Adams said he will put the episode up on the big screen in the pub on Monday night, with a food promotion too.

“I don’t think it will be as great seeing myself on the big screen,” said Mr Adams, who was a customer at the pub before becoming the landlord. “They do a lot of filming but condense it down to 30 minutes, so it will be interesting to see what gets left out and what goes in.”

The episode is on at 5pm.
