STAFF from the UK’s largest independent petrol station owner and operator took part in a 24-hour CrossFit challenge to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Seven members of staff battled exhaustion as they aimed to complete 100 miles in 24 hours on the cross trainer at the Esso garage in Bath Road last Thursday.
They also had a cake sale, a raffle and a Just Giving page which took their total to more than £2,500.
They were cheered on by passers-by, volunteers and Wilber the mascot from Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Area manager for Wiltshire David Hicks said: “It all went very well and we crossed the 100-mile mark at 5.49am, going on to do 114 miles.
“MRH have a national charity which is the air ambulance, and as I am the area manager for Wiltshire we decided to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“There were lots of donations on the day and the cakes and raffle went down very well.
“It was more exhausting than physically difficult but everyone delivered.”
