STAFF at a surgery in Chippenham took part in a sponsored walk, in memory of one of their receptionists who died of pancreatic cancer.
73 year old Elaine Hagan had worked as a receptionist at Rowden Surgery on Rowden Hill for 22 years before she died in July.
A group of 42 walkers, made up of staff and Mrs Hagan’s family, and eight dogs walked from Chippenham to Corsham and back in her memory, and raised £920 for Dorothy House on Saturday (September 1).
Health Care Assistant, Nichola Welsh, said: “Elaine was a much loved member of the team.
“She came back to work once she had been diagnosed but she went down hill really fast.
“She only lasted ten weeks from diagnosis.
“I worked with her for 20 years, and everyone left like they needed to do something for her so we did the sponsored walk.”
Some staff members are also taking part in the Bath Moonlight Walk for Dorothy House on September 15. To donate, please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nichola-welsh1.
