THREE teens have been arrested following a police chase through Calne and Chippenham.

Shortly before 4pm yesterday (Monday, August 20), a Nissan Micra failed to stop for officers on the A4 heading into Calne.

The chase ended in Emery Lane, Chippenham, and three people were seen to leave the car.

Officers detained three teenagers nearby and when searching the car, found a number of stolen items including tools.

Two teenage boys, aged 17 from Swindon have been arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, being a passenger in a vehicle taken without the owner's consent, possession of a class B drug and dwelling burglary.

An 18-year-old from Swindon was also arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving without insurance, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, using a vehicle without the owner's consent, drug driving, going equipped for burglary and dwelling burglary

During the chase, the Nissan Micra is believed to have hit a number of other vehicles, causing minor damage.

Details of the owners of these vehicles are currently being collated, but it is believed there are a number which haven't been accounted for.

Officers are now appealing for any members of the public whose vehicles were damaged during the pursuit to contact police.

PC Will Ayres, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would urge any members of the public who believe their vehicles were damaged during this incident to call 101 and quote crime reference number 54180078688. This will assist our investigation into this incident.”

The three teenagers remain in Melksham custody for questioning.
