A NEW Indian restaurant called Moonlight has opened in Corsham High Street.

Town councillors and contractors who worked on the project were among the VIP guests at the official opening.

The restaurant is the second to be opened by Melksham-based restaurateur Mayna Miah, from Bangladesh.

Mr Miah, 60, has run an Indian restaurant just off the Church Street car park in Melksham for the past 35 years.

Mr Miah said: “We have been planning this for a long time and look forward to becoming more involved in the Corsham community.

“It has taken a bit longer than we expected but we are very pleased with the result.”

Moonlight will be managed by his son Sayeed Ibrahim and has been decorated by Bristol artist Ollie Gillard, who has given it a theme based on the restaurant’s name.

Guests at the official opening on July 29 included town councillors Ruth Hopkinson, Rod Taylor and Anthea White, as well as Sharon Thomas, Corsham Town Council’s head of community services.
