ERLESTOKE prison is at the centre of an investigation after a package containing drugs, syringes and sim cards was thrown into prison grounds yesterday morning.

Officers want to speak to anyone who saw a man wearing all black approach the fence around the prison from the B3098 and in particular a driver who may have witnessed the incident while parked in a layby near to the church in Erlestoke.

DC Cerys Powell said: “We believe there was a vehicle parked in the layby near to the church in Erlestoke village at the time of the incident – the driver may have witnessed the incident or seen the man involved so we are keen to speak to this person.

"As well as this, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving through the area who may have a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.

“The parcel, which contained prohibited items including syringes, drugs and sim cards, has since been seized.”
