SCHOOL children are hoping to bag a cash boost for their school form the Tesco Bags of help initiative.

St Michael’s C of E (Aided) School, Aldbourne could be set to benefit from the community fundraiser after the friends of the school bid to be part of the scheme, which sees shoppers in Tesco Marlborough vote on what community project deserves the boost throughout July and August.

Grants of £4000, £2000 and £1000 will be awarded, which has been raised carrier bag sales in Tesco stores.

St Michael’s School hopes to build an all-weather track so the children of Aldbourne and the surrounding villages can enjoy physical activity throughout the year.

Headteacher Judith Arkwright said:“In 2015 we implemented a daily run for all the children to raise their self-esteem, enhance well-being and improve health and physical fitness at St Michael’s. We currently use a small playground, but by adding an all-weather track, we can ensure physical activity is available all year round to all our children.”
