ALZHEIMER’S Support has thanked everyone who took part in its fundraising Walk to Remember which took place on the same day as the royal wedding.

More than 150 people joined the charity for its fourth annual fundraising walk. Many donned wedding hats for the 12-mile walk that finished with a royal wedding street party in Devizes.

CEO Babs Harris said: “We have had so much support from so many people to make this a success.”

Sponsor apetito provided goodie bags for every walker and Bluebird Care gave bottled water to keep participants going in the heat. The wedding hats were donated by Joan Pressley Hats of Devizes.

Nigel Spratt, who did the walk with his son Jamie, said: “A big, big thank you to all the volunteers who have made today so enjoyable. Both myself and my son Jamie really enjoyed our first Walk to Remember in such glorious weather. We are proud to say that we will exceed our £500 fundraising target and are already planning for next year.

“Cheers to all the heroes behind the scenes. You are the stars - and getting a royal wedding arranged on our day was an absolute masterstroke.”

The walk has raised £65,000 for dementia care in Wiltshire since it started in 2015.
