YOUNGSTERS at schools across Devizes are busy creating sea creatures out of recycled bottles as part of Blue Planet themed contest to highlight dangers of plastic waste.
Devizes In Bloom invited schools to take part to make anything from turtles and starfish to whales and penguins using bottles and to then decorate them with other plastic items such as old vinyl records.
Among the schools taking part is Southbroom Infants who last year met judges from South West In Bloom to talk about their scarecrow entry.
In Bloom chairman Zena Robson said entries from this year's competition will again appear on the roundabout near The Greens. Entries will be collected by staff from Hillworth Park from June 25 and will be judged in July.
Ms Robson said: "Our theme is Blue Planet, linking with what is probably the most important current environmental issue, that of plastic waste on our beaches and in the sea."
