OLYMPIC dreams were ignited in children from Marlborough College as swimmer and commonwealth gold medallist Sharron Davies watched 1,000 children take part in a triathlon.
The children swam, ran and cycled around the college grounds and the winners had their own awards ceremony as Ms Davies handed out the medals.
Ms Davies said: “It was a pleasure to attend The Flight Centre Schools Triathlon and hand out medals to the very deserving participants. This triathlon is a brilliant initiative, it’s a great thrill to see so many children giving triathlon a go for the first time.”
Jonathan Leigh, Master of Marlborough College, said: “I want to thank all the pupils, staff and volunteers who helped make the day such a memorable one.”
The 2018 Flight Centre Schools Triathlon was part of a charity event raising cash for Restless Development which empowers children in Africa and Asia.
Since starting in 2016, £720,000 has been raised by 7,000 children aged between seven and 13 who have taken part.
